The Red Butte Creek Strategic Vision (download here) is an initiative that addresses sustainability, environmental stewardship, and ecological planning. It was produced with input from a diverse group of stakeholders from: the University of Utah; Research Park administrators; neighboring community members and community council representatives; Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County municipal employees; and students and student groups.
Students in the 2013 Global Changes and Society course created a student group, Friends of Red Butte Creek, whose mission is to establish a community dedicated to the protection, enhancement, and legacy of Red Butte Creek. The group aims to better understand the natural processes of the Red Butte Creek system and the impacts that we have on it, and to promote long-term opportunities and engagement in activities that support resilience of the creek system.
